Northern Lights put on rare displays over Britain
Original: aurora borealis
Aurora borealis sightings have spread across the UK, with pink and green skies photographed over the Isle of Wight and other areas after strong geomagnetic activity around Halloween. The Met Office has issued updates on further displays expected Sunday, and forecasters say conditions are among the best in years for seeing the Northern Lights from Britain, prompting widespread public interest and photo-sharing.
Why now: Unusually strong solar activity has made auroras visible from the UK, driving searches for forecast updates.
