Google to Cut Off Search for Schools Banning AI
Original: Google Will Turn Off Search for Schools That Reject A.I.
Google will simplify how schools can restrict its AI tools for students, but schools that block AI entirely will also lose student access to Google's search engine. The policy, reported by The New York Times, effectively ties access to the company's core search product to acceptance of its AI features, forcing educators to choose between adopting AI tools or losing search altogether.
Why now: The report is sparking debate over whether Google is coercing schools into adopting AI by bundling it with essential search access.
