Google to Cut Search Access for Schools Banning AI

Original: Google Will Disable Search for Schools Banning AI

Google will next year disable Google Search for K-12 schools that ban AI tools, under an all-or-nothing policy. Schools restricting artificial intelligence will lose student access to the search engine entirely, a move affecting millions of classrooms. Educators and commentators are debating whether the policy pressures schools into adopting AI or punishes them for cautious approaches to student technology use.

Why now: The policy forces schools to choose between allowing AI and losing Google Search, sparking debate over Google's leverage in education.
