Ukraine urges US to sanction entities backing Russia's Starlink rival
Original: Ukraine urges US to sanction entities supporting Russia's Starlink rival
Ukraine has asked the United States to impose sanctions on entities that support a Russian competitor to Elon Musk's Starlink satellite internet service. The appeal, reported by Reuters, reflects Kyiv's concern that Russia is developing its own battlefield communications capability. No details were given on which entities are targeted or how Washington has responded so far.
Why now: Satellite internet is critical to Ukraine's battlefield communications, and blocking Russia's alternative has direct military importance.
