Ukraine urges US sanctions on firms backing Russia's Starlink rival
Original: Ukraine urges US to sanction entities supporting Russia's Starlink rival
Ukraine is asking Washington to impose sanctions on entities supporting Russia's alternative to SpaceX's Starlink satellite internet system. The request follows reporting that Russia is developing its own satellite communications capability with foreign assistance, and Kyiv wants measures to cut off the companies and suppliers involved.
Why now: Satellite internet is critical battlefield infrastructure for both sides in the Ukraine war, making moves to disrupt Russia's rival system newsworthy.
