Hegseth calls for pitch-off for America's next base
Pete Hegseth has called for a pitch-off to decide the site of America's next military base, according to reporting by Axios. The announcement invites competing proposals for the future installation, though details on timing, location criteria, and participants have not been made clear. The move is being followed closely by defense observers tracking how the Pentagon plans its next basing decisions.
Why now: A senior defense official announcing a competitive process for a new US military base naturally draws defense and policy attention.
