'Israel's 9/11 stopped' and 'That was a great life'
BBC reporting pairs the phrase 'Israel's 9/11 stopped' with 'That was a great life', reflecting how the October 7 Hamas attack on Israel is being framed as Israel's equivalent of the September 11 attacks, alongside a personal reflection on life before it. The comparison has become a common shorthand for the scale of the assault and its lasting impact on Israeli society.
Why now: The October 7 attack continues to be discussed through the 'Israel's 9/11' comparison as its political and personal consequences unfold.
