Sudan Official Rejects US Ceasefire Plan, Warns of Libya-Style Partition
A Sudanese official has rejected a United States-proposed ceasefire plan for Sudan's conflict, warning that it could lead to the country being split apart in the manner of Libya. The warning reflects fears that external mediation efforts could entrench territorial division rather than end the fighting between Sudan's warring parties.
Why now: Ongoing international diplomatic pressure to end Sudan's war is drawing sharp rejection from Sudanese officials.
