Sudan Official Rejects US Ceasefire Plan, Warns of Libya-Style Partition
A Sudanese official has rejected a US-backed ceasefire proposal for Sudan's war and warned that the country risks a Libya-style partition if the plan proceeds. The remarks signal Khartoum's resistance to outside mediation terms and fears the conflict could entrench rival authorities across territory, as the two-year war between the army and paramilitary forces continues to displace millions.
Why now: Washington is pressing a new ceasefire initiative and Sudan's government openly rejecting it escalates debate over the war's future.
