German tech outlet heise reports on a consumer dispute with trade-in portal ZOXS. A seller who rejected the company's counteroffer had their iPhone sent back, but the device vanished in transit. Because the return label was booked by ZOXS, liability is murky, and the buyer was only offered a refund based on the cash register situation. The case highlights the risks when buy-back portals control return shipping and dispute responsibility for lost devices.
Why now: It warns consumers about unclear liability when trade-in portals send rejected devices back and the shipment goes missing.
