German tech outlet heise reports on problems with electronics trade-in portal ZOXS. Customers who reject the company's counteroffer get their device shipped back — but if the parcel disappears in transit, compensation depends on what the buyer can prove, with refunds reportedly settled on a case-by-case basis. The case highlights the risks of sending valuable devices like iPhones back through the seller's chosen shipping method, and is prompting discussion about consumer rights with online buy-back services.
Why now: Consumers are alarmed by the risk of losing valuable devices with no guaranteed compensation when rejecting a trade-in offer.
