City Colleges of Chicago faculty set October 19 strike date
Original: City Colleges of Chicago faculty, staff set Oct. 19 strike date
Faculty and staff at City Colleges of Chicago have set October 19 as the date for a strike. The announcement signals that contract negotiations with the community college system have not produced an agreement, raising the prospect of classes being disrupted across the city's seven community colleges if no deal is reached before then.
Why now: A looming strike at one of the largest community college systems in the country threatens class disruptions and reflects broader tensions over faculty pay and working conditions.
