Pentagon creates Office of Religious Affairs under Hegseth
Original: Pentagon launches Office of Religious Affairs, will report directly to Hegseth
The Pentagon has established a new Office of Religious Affairs that will report directly to Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. The office will oversee matters of religious accommodation and faith within the armed forces. Critics are likely to debate the separation of religion and military governance, while supporters view it as strengthening religious liberty protections for service members.
Why now: The creation of a faith-focused office reporting directly to the defense secretary raises questions about religion's role in the military.
