Original: LIVE | Congress Protests Against Gyanesh Kumar, Demands His Resignation | Jantar Mantar 2.0? | CJP
India's Congress party is holding protests against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, calling for his resignation, with demonstrations centred at Jantar Mantar in Delhi. Reports refer to the mobilisation as a possible 'Jantar Mantar 2.0', suggesting a large-scale sit-in reminiscent of earlier protest movements. The opposition accuses Kumar of bias, though specific trigger details remain limited in available reporting.
Why now: The opposition's direct call for the chief election commissioner's resignation is an unusual escalation against the election body, drawing wide attention.
