Thunderbird, the open-source email client long limited to desktop, has shown a first preview of its app for iPhone and iPad. The iOS application is still under development, but the team shared an early look at what users can expect. The news is drawing attention from fans who have waited years for a mobile version of the email client.

Why now: Thunderbird users have long requested a mobile app, so a first look at the iOS version is notable news.
