Ikea to close three small-format plan and order stores
Original: Ikea to shutter 3 small-format plan and order stores
Ikea will shut three of its small-format plan and order stores, a format the retailer has tested as a lighter-footprint alternative to its large warehouses. The closures suggest the company is reassessing which of its smaller urban formats justify continued investment as it adjusts its retail strategy.
Why now: Ikea is cutting back on one of its experimental smaller store formats, raising questions about the future of its urban retail strategy.
