Trump says he feels badly for accused Cornell rapists, citing James probe
Original: Trump says ‘I feel badly’ for accused Cornell gang rapists because his nemesis is investigating them
Donald Trump said he feels 'badly' for Cornell University students accused of gang rape, because the investigation into them has been taken over by New York Attorney General Letitia James, who previously prosecuted him for business fraud. The remarks draw criticism for siding with criminal defendants over their accusers simply because of who is leading the case.
Why now: Trump's comments link a serious sexual assault case to his personal feud with Letitia James, drawing backlash.
