Trump says he feels 'badly' for accused Cornell gang rapists
Original: Trump says ‘I feel badly’ for accused Cornell gang rapists because his nemesis is investigating them
Donald Trump said he 'feels badly' for Cornell University students accused of gang rape, because New York Attorney General Letitia James is taking over the investigation into the case. James previously prosecuted Trump for business fraud after his 2020 election loss, making her one of his most prominent political adversaries. Critics say Trump is attacking a rape investigation purely out of personal grievance against the prosecutor leading it.
Why now: Trump's defense of rape suspects appears motivated by his feud with Letitia James, drawing accusations he is politicizing a serious criminal case.
