World of Warcraft's blocky prairie dog wins affection
Original: In Praise Of World Of Warcraft's God-Awful Polygonal Prairie Dog
A gaming outlet has published an affectionate tribute to one of World of Warcraft's crudest animal models: the low-polygon prairie dog, whose simplistic, angular design stands out amid the game's increasingly detailed world. The piece celebrates the creature's awkward charm as a nostalgic relic of the MMO's early days, arguing its janky look has become part of the game's identity rather than a flaw needing a remake.
Why now: Players enjoy nostalgia and humorous appreciation for the MMO's oldest, crudest character models.
