Fijian climate activist urges action ahead of UN Pacific talks
Original: ‘We want action’: Fijian climate activist sends message ahead of UN talks in Pacific
A Fijian climate activist is demanding concrete commitments from world leaders ahead of UN climate talks being held in the Pacific region, saying 'we want action'. Pacific island nations face existential threats from rising seas and extreme weather, and activists are pushing negotiators to deliver stronger emissions cuts and support for vulnerable communities as the talks approach.
Why now: UN climate negotiations in the Pacific are drawing attention to the region's frontline role in the climate crisis.
