Fijian climate activist urges action ahead of UN Pacific talks
Original: ‘We want action’: Fijian climate activist sends message ahead of UN talks in Pacific
A Fijian climate activist is calling on world leaders to move beyond words and deliver concrete commitments ahead of United Nations climate talks being held in the Pacific region. Speaking as negotiators prepare to meet, the activist said Pacific communities living with rising seas and extreme weather 'want action', pressing wealthy nations to cut emissions and fund adaptation for the islands most exposed to climate impacts.
Why now: UN climate negotiations in the Pacific are drawing attention to the region's frontline role in the climate crisis.
