A maker revisited the design of Archimedes, a robot owl familiar built in 2021, explaining that moonstones were used for its backlit eyes. The stones look striking in normal light and double as natural diffusers for the LEDs behind them, giving the glowing eyes a soft texture. The project documentation is hosted on Hackster.io, where the build details remain available for other robotics hobbyists.

Why now: The builder is showcasing a clever material choice that inspires other robot and prop makers.
