Putin says EU will collapse on its own
Original: "NO NEED, THEY'LL COLLAPSE ON THEIR OWN!" — Putin on the future of the EU at Valdai
Vladimir Putin, speaking at the Valdai Discussion Club forum, dismissed the idea that Russia needs to act against the European Union, saying there is no need because the EU will 'collapse on its own'. The remark fits his long-running argument that Europe is suffering economic and political decline. The comment is drawing wide attention given ongoing tensions between Russia and European capitals.
Why now: Putin's dismissive prediction about the EU's future at a high-profile forum is provocative amid current Russia-EU tensions
