Iran rejects US claim of diplomat expulsions
Original: Iran rejects US claim of diplomat expulsions after UN General Assembly
Iran has rejected a United States claim that it expelled diplomats following the UN General Assembly in New York. Iranian officials deny the American allegation, offering a sharply different account of what happened around the assembly. The dispute adds to existing friction between Washington and Tehran, with both sides framing the episode in starkly different terms and leaving the exact circumstances unclear.
Why now: A direct public contradiction between Iran and the US over diplomatic conduct at the UN General Assembly is drawing attention amid already tense relations.
