Iran rejects US claim of diplomat expulsions after UN gathering
Original: Iran rejects US claim of diplomat expulsions after UN General Assembly
Iran has rejected a United States claim that Iranian diplomats were expelled following the UN General Assembly. Washington reportedly alleged that Iranian diplomats were removed, but Tehran denies that any expulsions took place, disputing the US account of what happened around the high-level meetings in New York.
Why now: The disputed expulsions add to tensions between Iran and the United States at a moment of heightened diplomatic friction.
