Louisiana immigration facility to hold families who self-deport
Original: Louisiana immigration facility to hold families, minors who self-deport
Louisiana is set to use an immigration detention facility to hold families and unaccompanied minors who opt to self-deport, according to local reporting from WWLTV. The plan means minors and family units who volunteer to leave the United States could be housed at the site rather than released or placed in separate custody arrangements.
Why now: Holding families and minors in a facility tied to voluntary deportation raises new questions about US immigration detention policy.
