Bear spotted at new Northern California wildlife crossing
Original: NorCal wildlife crossing gets first bear sighting before opening
A black bear has been recorded using a wildlife crossing in Northern California before the structure has even opened to the public, making it the first bear documented at the site. Wildlife crossings are built to let animals safely cross highways and reduce vehicle collisions, and an early visit from a bear suggests the passage may serve its purpose.
Why now: The early bear sighting suggests the crossing is already working as intended, which is encouraging news for conservationists.
