Eva Marie Saint, the Oscar-winning actress known for 'On the Waterfront' and 'North by Northwest', has died at 102. Alongside tributes to her career, commentators are noting that she retained health insurance into old age thanks to her SAG-AFTRA membership, prompting discussion of union benefits in the United States, which has no universal health care. She was among the longest-lived Oscar winners.

Why now: Her death at 102 has reignited debate about health insurance and the value of union membership in the US.
