DNS root key rollover scheduled for October 11

Original: The keys to the Internet change on October 11. Are you ready?

Cloudflare is reminding the internet community that the DNS root zone key signing key will be rolled over on October 11, 2024. The change replaces the cryptographic trust anchor that validates DNS responses worldwide. Operators of resolvers and network equipment are being urged to update their configurations in advance to avoid resolution failures when the new key takes effect.

Why now: The root KSK rollover could break DNS resolution for unprepared operators, so network administrators are being warned ahead of the date.
