School bus driver fired after letting student rescue kitten
Original: A longtime school bus driver fired after allowing student to rescue kitten
Cynthia Morgan, a longtime school bus driver in Maryland, was fired after she allowed a student to get off her bus to rescue a kitten. The story has drawn widespread criticism of the school district's decision, with many arguing the driver showed compassion and the punishment was disproportionate to the infraction.
Why now: People see the firing as an example of rigid zero-tolerance rules punishing a humane act.
