School bus driver fired after letting student rescue kitten
Original: A longtime school bus driver fired after allowing student to rescue kitten
A longtime school bus driver in Maryland has been fired after she allowed a student to step off the bus to rescue a kitten. Cynthia Morgan lost her job over the decision, prompting criticism of the school district for what many see as an excessive response to a small act of kindness. Commenters online have largely sided with the driver, questioning rules that punish compassion.
Why now: The apparent harshness of firing a veteran driver over a kitten rescue has struck people as absurd, driving outrage and discussion.
