Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said aggressors must be held accountable for ecocide, the large-scale destruction of the environment, in remarks drawing attention amid ongoing conflicts involving Iran, Israel and the wider region. The statement circulated widely among users discussing war, the United Nations, and environmental damage caused by military action, alongside debates over US, EU and Middle East politics.
Why now: Ongoing wars in the Middle East have put environmental destruction from military action back into the political debate.
