Discord to make public server messages searchable on Google
Original: Discord will soon let anyone find public server messages through Google
Discord has announced that messages from public, Discoverable servers will soon be indexed by Google, meaning anyone will be able to find them through search. The company says the change only affects servers that opted into Server Discovery and their public channels. The move has drawn criticism from users worried about privacy, with many pointing out that servers considered public by Discord may still contain sensitive conversations.
Why now: Users are concerned about the privacy implications of private-feeling community conversations becoming searchable on the open web.
