Discord to make public server messages searchable on Google
Original: Discord will soon let anyone find public server messages through Google
Discord has announced that messages from public, discoverable servers will soon be indexed and findable through Google search. The change means conversations that were previously only visible inside the app could surface in ordinary web searches. The move has drawn attention over its implications for user privacy, even though it applies only to servers that opt into public discovery.
Why now: Users are reacting to the privacy implications of private-feeling chat messages becoming visible via web search.
