Dockworkers in 22 Countries Launch Coordinated Port Strikes Over Gaza
Original: With 'Largest Coordinated Port Action Ever,' # Dockworkers in 22 Countries Strike Against # Gaza # Genocide | Common Dre
Dockworkers across 22 countries have launched what organizers are calling the largest coordinated port action ever, striking in protest of the war and humanitarian crisis in Gaza. The workers' statement emphasizes their leverage over global trade: without dockworkers, containers sit still and ships go unloaded. Labor groups and pro-Palestinian activists are sharing the action widely, framing it as a show of worker power directed at arms shipments and trade linked to the conflict.
Why now: A rare internationally coordinated labor action tying trade unions to the Gaza war is drawing widespread attention from both labor and activist communities.
