Ukraine struggles to counter Russia's jet-powered Shahed drone
Original: Ukraine Can't Stop Russia's Jet-Powered Shahed Drone
Russia has upgraded its Shahed attack drones with jet engines, making them faster and harder for Ukrainian air defenses to intercept. The modified drones fly quicker than the propeller-driven versions that previously filled Ukrainian skies, reducing the time available to detect and shoot them down. The development adds to pressure on Ukraine's defensive systems as Russian drone attacks continue at scale.
Why now: The jet-powered upgrade marks a significant escalation in drone warfare that could outpace Ukrainian air defenses.
