Ukraine Struggles to Counter Russia's Jet-Powered Shahed Drone
Original: Ukraine Can't Stop Russia's Jet-Powered Shahed Drone
Russia has upgraded its Iranian-designed Shahed attack drone with a jet engine, making it faster and harder for Ukrainian air defenses to intercept. The modification reportedly reduces the warning time available to defenders and raises questions about how Ukraine's existing systems can adapt against cheaper, faster incoming drones in ongoing strikes.
Why now: Russia's jet-powered upgrade to the Shahed drone makes a widely used weapon significantly harder to stop, with implications for Ukraine's air defense.
