Hiroshima Carp release batting champion Kaito Kozono
Original: 小園海斗
The Hiroshima Toyo Carp have issued out-of-contract notices to four players, including infielder Kaito Kozono, who won the Central League batting and on-base percentage titles last season and represented Japan at the World Baseball Classic. Reports call the move exceptional given his recent accolades, with discussion focused on why a regular player in his prime was let go and where he might land next.
Why now: Fans are stunned that a reigning two-time batting title holder and WBC player received a de facto release, an almost unheard-of move by the Carp.
