Hegseth directs troops to pause operations to vote
Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth has ordered US troops to pause operations so service members can vote in the election. The directive means commanders must adjust schedules and mission timing to give personnel the opportunity to cast their ballots. It is being read as an unusual step encouraging troop participation in the vote.
Why now: The order comes as the US election approaches, putting military readiness and voting access in the spotlight.
