Musk says he will give a SpaceX share to every American child
Original: I will give one of my SpaceX shares to every kid in America
Elon Musk has said he will give one share of SpaceX to every child in America. The statement, made on his own account, has drawn attention and skepticism, with people asking how such a giveaway would work legally and financially, and whether it is a serious pledge or a joke. SpaceX remains a privately held company, which complicates any mass distribution of shares.
Why now: An unusual pledge by one of the world's richest people naturally sparks debate about whether it is serious and feasible.
