Local Wikipedia project maps knowledge to your neighbourhood walk
Original: Local Wikipedia: Wikipedia, but only for things a half hour walk from you
A new project called Local Wikipedia offers an encyclopaedia limited to places and things within a half-hour walk of the reader. It reimagines Wikipedia's scope hyper-locally, covering nearby streets, buildings and landmarks. The concept is drawing wide attention online, with readers debating how hyper-local knowledge could change how people explore and document their own neighbourhoods.
Why now: The novel idea of restricting an encyclopaedia to walking distance is sparking curiosity and discussion about hyper-local information.
