Pete Hegseth appoints Elon Musk to US future warfare taskforce

Original: Pete Hegseth appoints Elon Musk to US taskforce on future of warfare

US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth has appointed Elon Musk to a taskforce charged with shaping the future of American warfare. The move puts the Tesla and SpaceX chief executive, already one of the Pentagon's most prominent contractors, at the centre of military planning debates. Commenters are weighing the implications of giving a major defence supplier direct influence over military strategy and procurement priorities.

Why now: People are reacting to an unusually close mixing of private tech business interests and US defence policymaking.
