Pete Hegseth appoints Elon Musk to US warfare taskforce

Original: Pete Hegseth appoints Elon Musk to US taskforce on future of warfare

US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth has named Elon Musk to a taskforce on the future of warfare, according to a report by The Guardian. The move pairs the Pentagon chief with the tech billionaire at a time when militaries are weighing the role of technology, from drones to artificial intelligence, in future conflicts. The appointment is drawing attention given Musk's business ties and the sensitive nature of defence planning.

Why now: The unusual appointment of a tech billionaire to a military strategy body is newsworthy and raises questions about conflicts of interest.
