Boston Dynamics employees protest ICE robot dog purchase
Original: ICE plan to buy robot dogs spurs protest from Boston Dynamics employees
Employees at robotics firm Boston Dynamics are pushing to block a planned sale of the company's Spot robot dogs to US Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The internal protest echoes earlier worker objections to police and military use of the company's robots, raising fresh debate over how its technology should be deployed.
Why now: Workers openly opposing their employer's government sale has reignited debate over policing and immigration enforcement uses of robotics.
