Distributed Proofreaders draws fresh attention

Original: Distributed Proofreaders

Distributed Proofreaders, the volunteer project that helps digitize public domain books for Project Gutenberg, is drawing renewed attention online. The site, at pgdp.net, invites volunteers to proofread scanned pages a little at a time, converting historical texts into freely available ebooks. Discussion centers on the project's long-running model of crowdsourced proofreading and its ongoing role in preserving and opening up literary works to readers worldwide.

Why now: A recent surge of interest in volunteer digitization efforts has put the long-running proofreading project back in the spotlight.
