Distributed Proofreaders draws renewed attention
Original: Distributed Proofreaders
Distributed Proofreaders, the volunteer project that converts public-domain books into freely available ebooks for Project Gutenberg, is drawing fresh attention online. Participants proofread scanned pages page by page, helping preserve and digitise thousands of out-of-copyright works. Commenters are discussing the project's role in keeping free digital libraries growing and the experience of volunteering to correct OCR errors.
Why now: Renewed interest in volunteer digitisation and free ebook preservation efforts.
