Distributed Proofreaders draws fresh attention
Original: Distributed Proofreaders
Distributed Proofreaders, the volunteer project that proofreads public-domain books page by page for Project Gutenberg, is being discussed again online. Founded in 2000, it has helped digitize tens of thousands of free ebooks by having volunteers check scanned pages against the original text. Commenters are revisiting the site and its role in preserving literature.
Why now: The long-running volunteer ebook-digitization project has resurfaced in discussion, prompting people to share and rediscover it.
