Lithuanian woman tells hammer-and-sickle waving students to study history
Original: "Study history thoroughly" Lithuanian woman to hammer and sickle waving students
A Lithuanian woman has written an open letter addressing students who wave the Soviet hammer and sickle, urging them to "study history thoroughly". The letter has drawn praise from Italian readers, with many agreeing that the symbol's victims deserve more awareness. Commenters note the contrast between youthful use of Soviet imagery and the experience of countries like Lithuania, which lived under Soviet occupation.
Why now: The open letter has resonated internationally, sparking debate about Soviet symbols and historical memory among young people.
